
Music Learning Styles
A learning style is the process in which you learn best. Our music lessons are tailored to your unique learning style to maximise your learning potential in every lesson.
Types of Learners
- Visual Learners
You learn best through a step by step approach. You will prefer to read about something in order to get full understanding. You will follow written instructions and diagrams easily.
You will be a strong sight-reader, and will enjoy playing new sheet music. You will learn to read notes through visually stimulating apps and flash cards.
- Auditory Learners
You learn best through listening and explaining. These learners learn best in lecture and classroom situations and will need to discuss a subject in order to clarify their understanding.
You will enjoy listening games and after hearing a piece you will work out how to play it. You will learn notes by humming notes as you read them.
- Kinesthetic learners
You learn best through demonstration and you like to work things out for yourself. You are the type of learner who will respond well to a hands-on approach and will prefer working your way through a task independently.
You will enjoy learning from memory and playing music with expression and emotion. You will learn to read notes by playing while blindfolded.
- Cognitive learners
You are the type of learner who learns best through problem solving. You prefer to work out problems logically.
You will respond well to written work and will strengthen your understanding by working on Music Theory and Music Literacy alongside your practical lessons.
